About Mrs. Schaefer

My name is Jodi Schaefer, and I am excited to be working with your 7th grader this year!  I am originally from Oahu, where I was born and raised.  I left the islands when I attended college at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma.  After earning my Bachelor's degree in Education, I moved back to Oahu, where I worked in the small private school I had attended as a child.  It was a great experience to work with some of the teachers I knew as a young student.  While there, I attended a cohort through Central Michigan University to earn my Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction.  After several years teaching in Hawaii, in grades 3-8, I opted to move back to Washington.

Soon after moving back to Washington, I got married and started a family.  My husband and I now have two grown children.  We live on some acreage and love taking care of our cows, goats, chickens, cats and dog.  In addition to our hobby farming, we like to work on classic cars and attend car shows.

Over the course of my 33 years in education, I have taught in elementary and middle schools, served as an instructional coach for teachers, been an Assistant principal, a Principal, and the Elementary Education Director for Tumwater School District.  Out of all of those experiences, my favorite has always been working with students and teaching math.  I am happy to be working at Bush Middle School again this year and look forward to working with all of the students and their families.
